Writing in Titanium on Glass - Lift-Off Photolithography
In today's video, I will be using photolithography to create fine structures and text in metal (titanium and silver) on glass. For this purpose, I will coat the glass with a photoresist, expose it to light, and then develop it. Using the mask created in this way, the glass will be coated with titanium in my vacuum chamber, and then the mask will be removed.

Breaking Down My Magnetron Design - DIY Metal Coating
Переглядів 21 тис.2 місяці тому
In my last video, you saw for the first time my self-designed magnetron. It can be used to coat surfaces with metals and many other materials. And in today's video, I will talk in detail with you about the individual components. What were my thoughts when designing the parts, what are optimizations compared to other designs, and what else can be improved. If you need custom circuit boards, 3D p...

Improving My High Voltage Power Supply - 3D Printed Parts Are a BAD Idea
Переглядів 17 тис.5 місяців тому
In today's video, I'll be discussing the improvements I've made to my high-voltage power supply. I'll be implementing some safety mechanisms and talking about the issues related to 3D printed parts in high-voltage setups. Ultimately, I now have a high-voltage power supply capable of achieving a variable voltage from 20 to 60 thousand volts. In case you haven't seen the first video: ua-cam.com/v...
Building an Adjustable High Voltage Supply
Переглядів 61 тис.5 місяців тому
I've wanted to build a high-voltage power supply for a long time, and in today's video, it finally happens. Using a ZVS driver, a flyback transformer, and a high-voltage cascade, I generate a voltage of 50 thousand volts. This video covers insulating the components with epoxy resin, a self-designed high-voltage connector, and integrating them into a custom enclosure to create a power supply cap...
Evaporating Metal in a High Vacuum to Coat Glass and PLA - PVD
Переглядів 99 тис.6 місяців тому
In today's video, I'll be using my vacuum chamber to vaporize metals like copper and silver, applying them to glass surfaces and 3D-printed parts. This coating process is known as thermal evaporation and falls under the umbrella of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD). In today's video, I'll be evacuating my vacuum chamber using my massive Pfeiffer TPH2101. The TPH2101 is a turbomolecular pump with a pumping speed of 1400 L/s. To do this, I had to fabricate a reducing flange first. The pumping speed is simply impressive. Wissel Vakuum: wissel-vakuum.de/ Join my Patreon and support my projects! In today's video, I'll show you the second version of my NaK fountain. This fountain utilizes an alloy of sodium and potassium instead of water. Sodium and potassium are alkali metals. When they come into contact, they form a eutectic mixture and become liquid. This alloy is highly reactive, which is why the entire fountain is filled with the inert gas argon. The pump is fascinating. It has no ...

is it not a flash boil off the water releasing the Hydrogen which then then promptly explodes

My traditional adjustment for helium flkw is using a blunted hypodermic needle, flow should be just enough to feel on your wetted upper lip. This is plenty for course location. Fine location is adjusted by bubbling in water. BTW, cheap balloon-grade helium is more than good enough!

I once knew a research group that managed to drop a nut into a pump at speed. The rotor was basically a solid at that speed, so the nut just bounced back into a remote section of the chamber. THE FIRST TIME! The next time, the pump injested the nut, blades, etc.

Can rubidium ozonide and potassium ozonide also be made in a similar fashion to this by reacting ozone gas with rubidium superoxide and potassium superoxide respectively?

Old Leybolds used greased bearings and did not last long. They switched to oil-lubricated and had more success (but could no longer be mounter horizontally).

You should Take a Look into a Heinzinger high voltage Power supply. As "partial discharge" IS a Major issue you can learn from them how they tackled it.

This is where having a very good knowledge of both physics and chemistry is most useful. Someone in an earlier comment mentioned glass being _atomically clean._ I'm not sure to what degree of cleanliness is needed and whether it can be achieved physically or chemically- possibly through a powerful oxidizer like Piranha solution. Other factors to consider would be obvious high voltage and heat dangers. Not sure if the charged particles have enough energy to generate X-rays of concern. If you have a copy of Strong's _Procedures in Experimental Physics,_ you could make some fascinating things, although one could make things of serious danger.
